Shelby Ring’s journey into creative storytelling and entrepreneurship began unexpectedly. While working as a yacht chef in the Virgin Islands, she discovered her love for filming underwater scenes with a GoPro. This initial spark of creative passion became the foundation for a thriving career in video production.

Transitioning to the United States was not easy. Shelby moved to Charleston with no industry contacts or established portfolio. She had to start from scratch, using resourcefulness and entrepreneurial grit to secure projects and build credibility in a highly competitive industry.

Through Ruby Riot Creatives, Shelby focused on storytelling impact, helping tech founders and entrepreneurs communicate their brand’s purpose. She believed that authentic stories are far more powerful than traditional marketing, and this approach quickly set her work apart.

Shelby’s filmmaking process emphasizes human connection. She gets to know her clients personally, highlighting their passions and quirks to make brand stories relatable. This personal touch creates a sense of trust and authenticity that resonates deeply with audiences.

She also acknowledges the challenges of being a woman in a male-dominated industry. Shelby’s perseverance, creativity, and empathetic approach to storytelling became the keys to overcoming obstacles and establishing a strong business presence.

As part of her mission to empower others, Shelby is launching a masterclass designed to help introverted founders shine on camera. This program teaches essential on-camera skills, such as body language and confidence, ensuring participants can share their stories with ease.

ABOUT SHELBY RING:

Austin-born-and-bred, Shelby Ring traded landlocked life for boat life as a yacht chef in the BVIs. Turns out, she was more into filming fish than cooking 'em. She swapped a chef knife for a camera, and started raking in cash for those "highlight videos" the fancy yachts couldn't get enough of. Fast forward to 2013, she swapped sailboat life for Charleston, SC, and opened up a video production studio. Eleven years and scaling to two cities later, Shelby's still the same freediving dork with a camera permanently glued to her hand.
